The Texas premarital-course benefit
An approved premarital education certificate may reduce the marriage-license fee and waive Texas's standard 72-hour legal waiting period. Verify current eligibility and fees with the issuing County Clerk. This does not change the Chapel's separate policy: every ceremony must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance.
Book the ceremony first
Reserve an eligible Chapel date and time before arranging license pickup. We do not accept walk-ins or same-day ceremony bookings.
Who qualifies
Both partners generally complete an approved course and present the required certificate to the issuing County Clerk. Confirm the provider and certificate requirements with that office.
Bring your certificate to the clerk
If the County Clerk accepts the certificate or another statutory exception or valid waiver applies, the license may be legally usable sooner. Bring a valid, legally usable license to the ceremony you already reserved.
