Same-Sex Wedding Ceremonies in Houston — What You Need to Know

We celebrate all love. Here's everything same-sex couples need to know about getting married in Texas.

Same-Sex Wedding Ceremonies in Houston — What You Need to Know

    You are equally welcome here

We officiate same-sex weddings the same way we officiate every other wedding: with full warmth, full attention, and no caveats. Here is the practical information.

    Texas legal status

Since Obergefell v. Hodges (2015), same-sex marriage has been fully legal nationwide and in Texas. Same license, same fee, same process. The Harris County Clerk's office issues licenses to same-sex couples without any additional steps.

    At the chapel

Nothing changes. You pick the same packages, choose the same music, write the same vows, and stand at the same altar. Chaplain Pat performs the ceremony with the language and pronouns you ask for in advance. If you'd prefer 'spouses' over 'husband and wife,' that's the wording we use. If you'd prefer the traditional language, we use that.

    Religious officiants

Chaplain Pat is an ordained interfaith chaplain and openly affirming. There is no religious test, no hesitation, and no separate process for same-sex couples. He has officiated hundreds of LGBTQ+ ceremonies and reads vows with the same attention he reads any other couple's.

    Photos and guests

Bring whomever you want. Up to 50 guests. The chapel and lobby are accessible and welcoming to all family configurations.

If your home state has different rules

The Texas marriage is recognized in all 50 states under federal law. Out-of-state same-sex couples regularly fly into Houston, marry the same week, and return home with a fully valid certificate.

If you've experienced unwelcoming officiants before

We hear this often. The first conversation with us is meant to be reassuring — call, message, or fill out the wizard, and you'll know within minutes that you're in the right place.
