Texas does not require ceremony witnesses, and marriage licenses are available from county clerks across the state. Reserve the Chapel at least 24 hours in advance; no walk-ins or same-day ceremony bookings.

Step 1 — Reserve the ceremony

Step 2 — Get the license

Both partners go in person to the Harris County Clerk's office downtown — see our Harris County guide for locations, hours, and current fees. Bring valid government ID and around $74 (or $14 with a premarital course completion certificate). It takes 30–45 minutes.

Step 3 — Observe the license timing

Without the premarital course, Texas requires 72 hours between license issuance and the ceremony. A qualifying certificate may make the license legally usable sooner, but it does not remove the Chapel's 24-hour advance-booking requirement.
